Strategic Planning

We can no longer assume that the future will be like the present. Nor can we claim that the future will be what we predict. Projecting our preferred solutions from today into the future is a feeble strategy.

The assumption that the future will follow linearly from the present is so dominant that it can feel exceedingly difficult to question it; doing so can risk being seen as disloyal or as a crank. But the pressure to conform is not only self-defeating; it is also a value destroyer.

Organisations that excel at making sense of the world
as it is, those who are most attuned to reality and who are capable of challenging key assumptions are the ones who will succeed in finding better ways of creating value.
